Castellucci Miano Winery - Love at First Taste!

In the last days of September, my wine tasting trip takes me to Castellucci Miano, a small wine company and one of our best seller at the Bistro and online. I always look forward to visit them to taste the latest vintage and chat with Piero Buffa, the general manager, and Tonino Guzzo, the winemaker. We chat about the latest production and taste lots of wines! Catarratto, Perricone, Nero d’Avola, Syrah, I love with these grapes!

The winery is located on the hills of Valledolmo, in the heart of Sicily, 2 hours drive from Catania, my hometown. It is literally in the middle of nowhere (honestly) but the area has incredibly old vineyards, some to date back to 1570!

On these beautiful hills Castellucci Miano make some of the best wines I ever tasted. The 75 hectars of vineyards distributed on the cliffs and the valleys of the mountains surrounding Valledolmo, represent the heritage of great winemaking. Their wines are Superb and Sustainable. No chemicals whatsoever on the land and inside the bottle, so what our customers drink is a fine wine, good to them and to the planet.

They may have a limited offer with “only” seven labels, but they are all fine, incredible wines. Their sustainability and quality has been internationally awarded and Piero Buffa is particularly proud of being part of the prestigious Slow Wine Guide. Only some of the best Italian wineries have achieved the same result!
