Coming soon. A new boutique winery from Etna.
We had a wonderful welcome from Giò Emmanuele Vini, enjoying a wine tasting experience right in the vineyard, accompanied by local cheese and charcuterie.
The winery is run by two cousins who chose to carry on the legacy of their grandfather Giovanni, producing high-quality Etna wines.
With a tiny production of just 8,000 bottles and only three exceptional labels, it’s no surprise this boutique winery caught our attention.
Their vineyards are located near Sant'Alfio, at 750 meters above sea level, where the volcanic, sandy soils are rich in minerals thanks to the Etna’s volcanic ash.
Giò Emmanuele wines will be soon available on our wine list and in our online shop!
What is Sant'Alfio?
It’s a small and historic village on the eastern slopes of Mount Etna, home to just 1,500 residents. The area is also famous for the legendary "Chestnut Tree of the Hundred Knights" (Castagno dei Cento Cavalli).
According to legend, a mysterious queen and her hundred knights found shelter under this ancient tree during a sudden storm.
Estimated to be over 2,200 years old, it is considered one of the oldest known trees in Europe. Recognized for its exceptional historical and botanical value, it was voted Italy's Tree of the Year in 2021.
I can't stop recommending visiting Sicily, there is so much to see, eat and drink! 🍷
