About the Winery: Cantine De Gregorio
Cantine De Gregorio lies at the heart of a true Mediterranean melting pot, halfway between Sciacca and Menfi, facing the mystical Isola Ferdinandea — a dormant submarine volcano. Its volcanic soil, momentarily asleep but very much alive, nurtures 25 hectares of vineyards where international grape varieties grow side by side with indigenous ones, each finding their perfect environment.
The story begins in a small countryside village built around a 15th-century watchtower. Over time, the land surrounding it became a winery, where farmers crafted wines with delicate yet intense flavours.
This village, Ragana — a name derived from the ancient Arabic Ras-hana, meaning “land of friendship” — is also the birthplace of Ugo Testoni, a passionate winemaker inspired by the area’s deep-rooted traditions. Today, his daughter Maruzza, together with her husband Ascanio and their children Francesca, Antonio, and Ugo, proudly continue the legacy of their father and ancestors.
The family has lovingly restored the old winery, bringing together traditional techniques and modern innovation. With mild winters, hot dry summers, and an abundance of Mediterranean sunlight — combined with precise vineyard care — their vines yield healthy fruit that becomes truly exceptional wines.

NEW! Available early May 2026
A new, excellent addition to the De Gregorio wine collection. A wine obtained from the red Nerello Mascalese grape but vinified into a white wine. The grapes are pressed very lightly and the juice is then separated at a very early stage from the dark-coloured skins. As the juice is itself colourless, the resulting wine remains white. Hybis is aged between 5-6 months in stainless steel tanks and 1 month into the bottle, delivering a refreshing and aromatic young wine. This is indeed an exceptional white wine.
