About the Winery: Castellucci Miano
An award winning winery situated in Valledolmo located in the valley of the Madonie Mountains, where their vines of Catarratto and Perricone grow between 700 and 1050 meters above sea level.
The origins of viticulture in the Valle Dell’olmo estate date back to 1570 having around 530 hectares by the mid 1800’s producing wine for the surrounding towns.
Nowadays, only 75 hectares of vines, with an age of between 40 to 60 years, are planted on the cliffs and valleys of the mountains surrounding Valledolmo where Castellucci Miano is working tirelessly to guarantee the preservation and protection of biodiversity of this land and its heritage grapes.
Miano – made with Catarratto grapes - and Perricone made from the Perricone grape are Castellucci Miano’s signature wines, alongside their excellent Nero d’Avola and Syrah, being of single variety and organic wines obtained from a careful and continuous selection of the best grapes with Catarratto and Perricone now recognised as essential varieties of the new D.O.C. which represent the historic connection to the origins of viticulture in the town of Valledolmo.
As well as winning many medals at various awards throughout the globe, Castellucci Miano’s credentials, sustainability and low carbon footprint are also very impressive, not to mention being recognised in the prestigious Slow Wine guide.
Nero d'Avola DOC 2022
"The Best Nero d'Avola ever tasted", according to customers. A truly sophisticated wine, aged in oak barrels and produced by award-winning winery Castellucci Miano. Nero d'Avola is a full bodied Sicilian red wine with a bold fruit-driven taste with hints of black cherry, plum, blackberry and violet.
This grape is the most popular and widely planted red grape variety in Sicily, with its distinctive dark colour and scents of red fruit, such as plums and cherries. Our Nero d'Avola has a warm and elegant structure and it is aged in oak barrels, for a rich a sophisticated flavour.
Pairs very well with lasagne, grilled steaks or chicken, also as a wonderful "meditoation wine". |
