Sensale Catarratto Orange Wine

About the Winery: Sibiliana

Sibiliana Vini is a well-known association of Sicilian winemakers located in Marsala, on the sunny west of Sicily, where the mild and breezy climate, the alternation between plains and gentle hills, are the ideal conditions for quality viticulture.

And here, between Trapani, Agrigento and Palermo, Sibiliana can count on over 4500 hectares of vineyards, managed with passion by farmers committed to safeguarding ancient winemaking traditions.

Thanks to the combinations of both local and international varieties - like Nero d’Avola, Grillo, Chardonnay - growing of great soil, vineyard exposure and planting altitude, a rigorous selection of the grapes guarantee the best of quality.

Sibiliana has conquered awards and recognition from around the globe, like the Cathay Pacific, Mondus Vini, Organic wine award and Concours Mondial Bruxelles.

At La Sicilyana we love the Eughenés Syrah/Nero D’Avola, their most exclusive line along with the excellent Grillo and Zibibbo, as well as the Roceno, a perfect expression of the authenticity and joie de vivre typical of this region.

Sensale Catarratto Orange Wine

£23.00

From Sibiliana Vini, a brand new and very special wine, made with white Catarratto grape and turned into a wine with an orange colour.

Orange wines are wines produced with white grapes, but vinified like red wines, with maceration (lasting from a few days to several months) of the must in contact with the skins and yeasts. This allows the wines to acquire substances which make them different from both whites and reds from a visual, olfactory and tactile point of view.

The origin of Orange wines seems to be sought in present-day Georgia thousands of years ago. Here the wines were macerated inside the Kvevri, clay containers very similar to the terracotta amphorae used today.

Excellent in combination with meat dishes, even spicy, and with the specialties of oriental cuisine.

Hints of dried fruits and apricot, accompanied by honey notes, full and structured with a marked persistence.
100% Catarratto, IGP Sicilia
13% Vol, 750ml
Best served 8/10°C
Western Sicily

You’ll love this wine if you like something different, full, structured and long lasting.
